Perci Garner may have been the only person leaving Progressive Field before the game began Opening Day. The former pitcher for the Cleveland Indians was with coworkers and had plans to watch the game from the stands before meeting up with friends from the team. But then his wife, Krista, called to say that she was in labor with their second child an hour away. After assuring his friends that this wasn't some bad April Fools Day joke, Perci caught a Lyft to his car and made the drive to Aultman Hospital, arriving in time for a quick 'hello' and a kiss before the epidural.

After that, the waiting game began. Krista's sister did her nails; friends were FaceTimed; Mom, Dad, and Aunt Susie arrived; and, of course, everyone took a nap. Then at 2:58 a.m., the most loved little girl in the world arrived. One week later, I visited the family of four at their home for newborn photos. You can follow along with the family on Instagram.
